      You are being intentionally contrarian.

I’m listening if you can explain how this specific meme is bringing about enshittification to Lemmy.

I swear, there are a couple weirdos on lemmy that think content must be original. Either that or it’s reddit operation to harass posters and reduce lemmy userbase

If it is a person that saw it, chuckled, and decided to share it, yes. If it is a bot automatically reposting every post, no.

              person

              bot

If they mostly use their account to repost things from other platforms if they were not previously posted in the community, I’m OK with that, as long as there is a “quality” filter, especially if it is subjective. Then we can vote on it as we do for any other and if it was a shit post it will be buried.

You may spend enough time on Reddit to instantly spot reposts and be annoyed by it, but I don’t. How do you see limiting the amount of potential entertainment and discussion that I can get on Lemmy a positive for it? Is your position that if something is already posted on Reddit, I should go there to interact with it?

Nothing I have said is to the contrary of anything. And if you cannot understand that people are here because they did not like Reddit then you are part of the problem.

A lot of people are here because they like the experience of reddit but not the company running it.

That’s… yeah, exactly, that’s what you’re doing, thus making this platform feel more like Reddit. While me and the other commenters don’t care for that shit. Can you see how you seem to be against your point?

Twist what? I think I’ve been pretty consistent and clear in my position that non-automated “reposts” are not inherently harmful to Lemmy, nor that having reposts makes Lemmy “like Reddit”. Flash news, 99% of the content on the internet was posted somewhere else too. Are you sure you’re not twisting into mental gymnastics to avoid seeing how you’ve been acting like a typical Redditor by refusing conversation and unnecessarily insulting someone for disagreeing with you?

You seem really intentioned on antagonising me for being someone that is not being contrarian. What is your last sentence even supposed to mean? “Cannot understand that people are here because they did not like Reddit”, really?

You are having a redditor moment by falling into shallow campism and name-calling instead of discussing a point critically.

It was in response to being called intentionally obtuse and “part of the problem” after pointing out that you were attacking me without making logical sense. Contrarian was a poor choice of words I admit, maybe hostile would’ve been more appropriate.

“called out” implies that I did something wrong. I was expressing an opinion and you called me obtuse without arguing why, then went to make that “if you cannot understand that people are here because they did not like Reddit then you are part of the problem” statement which I ironically find quite obtuse - I don’t think you honestly believed I don’t know/understand that users here don’t want it to be Reddit. Or what “problem” exactly I’m supposed to be a part of.

You just decided to see an enemy in me for some reason, and that’s what I meant for contrarian/hostile.

If you are going to ignore my problem with you then that’s on you. But I very much didn’t “decide to see an enemy”. You are clearly taking this way to seriously.
