The only thing preventing me from getting one is that I don’t want another car payment and my condo doesn’t have electric charging because dumbass boomers here don’t realize EVs are the future. We could easily have a charging station installed and it would increase everyone’s property values. These same boomers vote against electronic door locks because they can’t be arsed with learning even simple technology. Now I have to hide a key outside like 1980s in case I lose my outer door key.
i was living the good life when i bought a house with built in level 2 ccs leaving the house every morning with a full tank and despaired when i had to move into a tiny studio with no reliable level 2 (there are a few on the property but hard to nab)
honestly this year a bunch of 300+ kw chargers popped up and now it barely takes longer than a normal grocery run to fill up so it actually doesn’t slow me down at all i will caveat this with the fact that i live off i-95 so ymmv
Unless you drive a lot every day, you probably don’t need to install a special charger. I was about to have one installed, but then I figured I’d see how the plug already in the garage worked out. That was about 10 years ago. I get the not wanting another payment though. Shit’s just brutal. I boughtt a 2 year old used EV for $11k. Never had a moment of buyers’ remorse.
My aunt got locked out of her house because the battery powered smart lock died in the cold. So she couldn’t get in when it was late at night and freezing cold. Had to get a locksmith out, which probably cost her a couple hundred dollars.
