see, I don’t agree with prisons.
I think if you’re going to have a society run on vice and kept in line with fear of punishment, and anything else seems to be derided as hippie shit because I’m living in orc world, the punishments should be scary.
prison is horrible, it makes you worse to suffer, it fucks up the people who run it too, and its very easy to make not-scary. you’re still throwing a persons life away just like if you’re killing them, but you’re putting in this huge resource investment to feel morally superior and making both of you worse people in the process. its vile.
plus, I’d rather just have them out of the world and not released upon the next fascist regime. every time that happens it diminishes the effectiveness of the terror of prison. how many times has that happened in high profile cases just related to the current american regime?
We tried that for thousands of years and it doesn’t work. But I mean you seem to live in a fantasy world, so just keep on believing in it. Maybe it makes you happy.
prison though, prison works great.
It does to a degree, yes. Not on the USA, because they misunderstand what’s the point, but yes. The point by the way, is rehabilitation. Or keeping them from harming others. Not “being the worst dick of all time”.

question though: what’s the value if ‘rehabilitating’ a scum bag like this? is it more than the value of making an example of them? different populations react to different thing, and historically the wealthy react a lot to being tortured on camera
I don’t want to live in a society driven by your ideal. And most others don’t want either. What you want you can have right now. It exists and you can achieve it by simply moving to Afghanistan.
a world based on understanding and learning and growing and making things better and restorative justice? yeah I know. nobody else does, so I don’t propose that shit. exterminating the guilty is a compromise with you fucking orcs.
