I’m sorry, I’m sure this is annoying and all…but if you live next to a theme park, what do you expect?

The theme park opened in 1964. If you’re over the age of 80 and have been living in the same house since age 20, and it just happens to be next to Universal Studios Hollywood, ok, I think you have a bit of an argument (though honestly, you probably should’ve brought this up sooner). But for everyone else, you knew what you were getting into when you bought a house in that neighborhood.

Big companies do terrible, awful, harmful stuff all the time. This isn’t one of those times. They even built the ride extra quiet to help make life better for you. They didn’t have to do that, because again, you’re the one who bought a house next door to a theme park.

A town I grew up nearby has a small amusement park. 20 or so years ago, they built this thrill ride called the “Screamer”, its name in bold, illuminated letters on the front of the machine, facing the freeway and serving as a sort of landmark. Soon after it was opened to the public, complaints started rolling in- not from riders, but from residents of the homes across the freeway. The screaming was making its way through open windows at night, and eventually the park had to initiate a “no screaming” rule on the Screamer.

Tough shit for the people that live near the park, you live next to a fucking theme park. Shouldn’t have bought there, I guarantee it’s been there longer than them.

Same thing with race tracks like Laguna. Population creep has started to come closer to tracks, now lots of race tracks have had to implement noise rules and often it’s still not enough to stop complaints.
