Title. I’ve ask mechanic friends and they said to expect in dash features to be busted if you pull the parts, but I suspect Faraday caging it could be a solution. I know there’s only so much to be done about data being collected physically from the vehicle, but at least preventing it from being sent off remotely would be a win.

    Look into unhooking the antenna. I know that some of the articles that I read a couple of years ago when I was looking into this myself suggested this to keep the rest of the system working, without it being able to connect and send data.

      Read about a Tacoma owner that wrapped his vehicle’s DCM in tinfoil to accomplish this and seems to have succeeded. This was preferred over fully removing it as certain other functionality is often lost that way such as in car speakers or the cabin microphone (used to talk to your phones handsfree system when running Android auto or carplay).

      Ultimately, this kind of question is probably best answered on whatever forums exist for your manufacturer or model.
