The normal police is always bad at finding digital info. You want them to be audited and/or raided by the finance police (not sure how that is calld where they are located)

Link? The only thing I saw was this https://x.com/andyyen/status/1864436449942110660 and this https://archive.ph/quYyb
Both are very stupid, but the moment that you fall in a 2 party system and you cannot agree on statements of the other party is when politics really fall apart.
People will be playing on the man, blaming the “other” party and basically nothing is getting done. If you want to get stuff done you have to find compromises.

Well fair, you can install both at the same time. I installed Plex again earlier today and it was wat easier this time.

What’s the issue with using your phone logged into your account to authenticate on the TC?

You can use your phone to login to Jellyfin these days and depending on the TV and app you can have a profile switcher. You can also make a passwordless account. Which would be fine if you used some other form of authentication.

The best way to prove you don’t hold any logs is by doing on audit on it.
In the story you explained it would be better to not use a VPN since Dutch providers don’t share your name when somebody comes to them with a list of IP’s.
Thank you for the response though!

You are right,. that is fair. You can also pay 230 euro currently for it.

Also this agai?
There are tons of reports on this bullshit. Yes he is a moron and an idiot that he posted something like that and that he doubled down on it.
But agreeing with a statement from somebody doesn’t mean you completely support that person. If you want to be able to form good discussions you have to look at the opinions from a person on that subject, not how big of an asehole the other person is. That is playing on the man and is going to cause issues.

Proton was audited last year https://www.securitum.com/public-reports/securitum-protonvpn-nologs-2025.pdf
Idk how trustworthy securitum is, I don’t know them and I don’t know if these auditers are registered somewhere where you can report them if we later find out they lied.

I kinda want to read more into it before I move all my services from Proton, do you have some links?
And do you have an alternative I can use?

it probably has to do with the different rules between the US and Switzerland

I kinda want to see what they handed over. They cannot get around the fact that they need to be able to handover data when legally asked with a warrant.
But I do kinda want to see if it is actually useless metadata or it is just our entire history.

You just give those people the name of the app your recommend (Jellyfin, Moonfin etc) and give them the URL and their username, then they create a password.
It’s not that difficult for most and if it is you help them once with it.

Plex doesn't have hardware transcoding unless you pay almost 800 euro

Plex doesn’t “just work” I have lost access to my install more time than I can coun’t due to their weird prove you are the owner system.

I install Jellyfin using docker, go to the web address, make the credentials for it and I am up and running.
For Plex you need to do that whole gain ownership song and dance which is a pain if you don’t have full console and file access like on TrueNas.

It;'s probably about 800 euro, but that is still 800 euro more than Emby/Kodi/Jellyfin or whatever other altnerative. I had a lot of issues with Plex due to them requiring that proof of ownership thing which didn’t really work on TrueNas core I think it was?
Jellyfin is way easier imo
Just get rid of as much American software as you can. The US is a mess and the cloud act will always be abused.
Edit: or open source software
