I was under the impression that you had to compile everything yourself on Gentoo and in Nix that you have to mess with a config to do everything and anything.
Maybe I should try them both to see what the fuzz is about.

well known and supported 🤪
From my understanding NixOS and Gentoo is “support it yourself”. I haven’t tried either of them so I could be completely wrong about that.
This is the way! Everything is based on Arch, Debian or Fedora anyway so you might as well stick to what is well known and supported.
Yeah and I am completely against total surveillance as well. But we need some solution to catch these predators.
The main problem with the internet compared to sending mail is that everyone can be exposed to what is available online. Like for example on ZeroNet, on some chan-board I randomly visited, there were some csam that I got exposed to and it was not by choice…
I now had csam on my computer and I was now also helping distribute it since I had seen it. (Yay peer to peer internet). In the end I decided to deleted the ZeroNet program off of my computer and never come back.
I am not advocating for total surveillance or restrictions of rights but we need some solution to a real problem. If it’s a technical solution or a societal solution I can not say.
So their solution is to hide the csam for the masses and let the pedos run wild in the dark? What about human trafficking?
As much as I think that freedom and free speech are super important, I also think that some things should not be freely allowed.
So it’s exactly like ZeroNet then? I listened to the talk about FreeNet but I didn’t hear much about how moderation is supposed to work. Somehow there needs to be a way to remove content.
Epson seems to supply Linux drivers according to their website and some Linux users when I searched around
Are you saying that anything AI touches is slop or that they are actually merging slop commits?
Unless you are from Sweden it’s not that surprising you never heard about “bjer” haha. I only learned about it pretty recently and I am born and raised here 😅 The majority of people probably never think about why places are named the way they are
These days you can’t even tell the name comes from the area. They use old words to describe it. An area with a hill could be called a “Something-bjer”. Bjer means hill and is close to the modern word Berg but if you don’t know about it then you don’t think about it.
Sure, we could have old barn road. But I am not talking about roads. More like City names, local village names, local area names and such.
In my country we name places after the surrounding area/environment. If it’s an area with a big hill it will probably have a name to reflect that.
The Forgotten City. The less you know about it the better
And Inscryption is one of my favorite card battlers

Okey thank you so much for the information! I can see the appeal. More freedom and customization. I am all for it.
But for my use cases I think Arch is enough. It strikes a nice balance with official packages and the AUR and I love that you get to choose all of the packages you want to have installed.
