You look around and realize your surrounded by the most articulate and interesting people in the world, and inside you know your just a lame jerkoff who has no business being there.
Im in college rn and this is exactly what it feels like when my smaller classes do introductions.
Me today
You got this amigo.
The imposter syndrome is strong with me lol
The best is the first person to start it sets the template for everyone else.
Hi my name is ronald mcdonald, give job title, give boss name, say how long you worked here.
Hi my name is Sergio and I laugh like this: “huh huh HA HO huh…” Next?
My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.
Hello my name is Jack Meehoff and I am a sexaholic.
People act like they are at gunpoint. It’s perfectly fine to go “Hi, I’m Dusty, nice to meet you.” And leave it at that, no matter how much the extroverts before you ranted on about themselves. In my experience 99% of the time people feel just as apprehensive as you and don’t really care. Now, if the entire point of the meeting is to introduce a team, please, just fucking cooperate. I’ve worked with too many people who refuse to participate on the meetings, and they make workflows so unnecessarily obstructive. I want to finish my task and go home as well, just pay attention to the communication tools, I don’t care how much of a mystery you like to portray yourself as. Specially if our work depends on each other’s coordination.
Like anyone gives a fuck and remembers anyway
The point isn’t for everyone to remember everyone, with n * (n-1) links being made.
The point is for each person to be able to remember one person. Usually the hot chick.
Because extroverts rule the world and we just live in it
My name is Rod and I like to party.
My name is Buck and I like to F…
Cool beans, cool beans
A few of these wombles have escaped the confinement of the office and discovered the outdoors, and will do this at the start of an activity.
And I try and veto that whenever possible.
I do it for 2 reasons:
- Make sure everyone is supposed to be there. I’ve had people show up to meetings that weren’t supposed to be there and everyone else thought they were with one of the other groups in on the meeting.
- Figure out if the other side tried sneaking in a lawyer. If they bring a lawyer, we need to bring ours.
Also, it helps to know who you are talking to.
Only name and responsibility for this project. I want to remember the one person who is on the client side of my interface. The rest I may remember, but don’t need to.
Courtesy? I mean come on, is it really asked to much to say your name and why you are part of this meeting?
If I don’t know you already it means this meeting should have been an email
“hi, I’m midnight, and I’m here because all you fucks need me, unfortunately. I’m also not getting paid overtime for this 7am meeting…”
Courtesy?
Courtesy starts at normal business hours. Ends with them too.
That’s just being a normal human
The meme is about overtime? I must have misread. But yes, courtesy last only as long as your paid for.
“I’m sippy cup and I don’t know why I’m here” has never failed to both get a laugh and be absolutely true.
Psychologically speaking, check ins at the beginning of the meeting are important to create connections in the group and make people feel more comfortable to speak up later. It’s literally just behavioural science.
Its like 2 sentences, come on
But yet, your comment is only one. Curious.
This actress would absolutely ROCK playing character Kindra in a live action adoption of the game Artemis ( an S tier Adult Visual Novel).
