SignalTrace “links devices that regularly travel together, correlating them to license plate.” It is a surveillance product that will sweep up and add all sorts of Bluetooth and other data to license plate readers, linking specific devices—and people—to cars.
How is it even lawfulthat this is just routine for the company to capture without an actual specific requirements to obtain keep and use.
No expectation of privacy in public is the general basis. Seems like passing “reasonable expectation of privacy from government agents, private and public, in public spaces” as an extension of the 4th amendment would be nice
Lawful doesn’t matter if nothing is being enforced. Your rights are less than lip service in the US.
