So turns out next upgrade for the bike is going to be some not road tires, whoda thunk riding on silt and mud with 80/20s was a terrible idea. All in all just some plastic pieces broke which I can model and 3d print to fix. At least now I can say I have adventured.
I see you use your motorcycle properly, I love to see it!
These bikes were meant to be used, not pavement princesses.
My thoughts exactly!
Oi, you can’t park that there mate
I thought motos sleep standing up like elephants? TIL i guess.
As for that road I’m not sure i’d have traction on that even on my downhill mountain bike. That looks squidgy.
Yeah, I think the 80/20 tires would have been fine if the trail was dry, but I’m definitely looking at more aggressive off-road tires next. The trail was basically wet clay. On the plus side that meant no damage to the bike when it took a few dirt naps lol
It’s not adventuring if you don’t drop it!
Exactly!
I assume the baby is in the other hard case, seeing as the one on the ground is no longer “on board”
The baby on board was taking the picture, it’s me, I’m the baby. Maybe j should consider getting a baby doll and keeping it in the box that’s usually empty just for shits and giggles though
Did you air down? Makes a huge difference. I run 80/20s on everything. Only gets sketchy in super sloppy mud.
Ooo I did not. I just got to the trail from the road, I do have a pump in my box to fill it when I get back on the road though. I think I’ll try that when I get back to the trail in a month or so (before I order new tires)
Upvoted for courage and « halfricatwin »
Is it courage or stupidity? Maybe both lol. And yeah, I want to repaint/wrap my bike eventually, and I’m definitely having my friends wife cut me a halfrica twin sticker for the new colors
That’s what you call the Transalp right? I have an XL600V from ‘99 still used on the daily.
Sleep tight little one, please don’t wet the bed
Leave it broken! It gives you off road cred!
This is why I never and will never wash my bike. The luggage rack is definitely getting fixed though since I quite like it around town lol
ADVs no like mud 😭
Yknow it’d make more sense to not take a 460 pound bike through sketchy shit, but where’s the fun in that? The bikes fine, I just need to design and 3d print a replacement peg for the hard case which broke off lol
Lol, as a KLR owner I feel your pain.
We do it not because it is easy, but because we thought it would be easy. KLRs are such wonderful bikes though
I wouldn’t go there unless I had at least motoz
I rode pretty gnarly shit on the older model, can recommend Mitas E07. The Dakar version has really stiff side walls, if you want to be able to swap tubes on the trail I’d get the normal ones.
Ooo I’ll have to keep those in mind! Thanks!
