Hello, i was wondering if there are any good indie games on steam to try out. Can be free or paid, i don’t mind if there’s no native linux build either (i play stuff with wine/proton anyways lol) and i don’t mind the genre. I’ve been thinking of trying something new as of recent so i thought i might ask it here.

Thanks!

If you like puzzle-like games, give Chants of Sennaar a try! The mechanics are super unique, not very difficult either. I loved every bit of it

If you have your life affairs in order, you could try Factorio. Your friends and loved ones won’t see you for months.

Months is an understatement. Just remember to eat, drink water, and sleep now and then. It helps to keep a window nearby so you can track when it’s day/night as well.

For the king was on sale for like 3 bucks the other day. Absolute steal. Even better if you have people to co-op with. Fantastic three person co-op.

Exceptional free indie games on Steam. Sheepy has a great atmosphere. Unless is an excellent 2D platformer. Halloween Capybaras has great atmosphere and visual effects.

These are what came to mind, as good ones, that I remember. I guess I’ll stop now. I’m sure if I went through my Steam reviews, I would find numerous more great indie titles as well.

Ardor: Free deck builder rougelike ( lite? ).

Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom: 3D platformer collectathon where you are a taxi.

KilaFlow: Fast paced precision 3D platformer.

    Frogun: Slow paced 3D platformer.

Brok the InvestiGator: Describes itself as a “punch and click” type of game. Dev has a spin-off survival visual novel called Celsius Strays in the works, with playable demo of the beginning of the game.

Corn Kidz 64: Fairly short collectathon that does a great job of feeling like an n64 title.

Oaken Tower: I have a very love hate relationship with the game and at one point got angry enough to leave a nasty post on mastodon about wishing the dev harm. Still recommend it, though.

Coal LLC: 2D game about going down to collect coal.

The Ourboros King: Chess rouglike ( lite? ) with weird pieces and obstacles on the board.

Mail Mole: No, you ain’t collecting mail in this 3D platformer.

Omelet You Cook: Roguelike ( lite? ) about placing ingredients on omelettes.

Me and my wife (not much of a gamer) have been playing All Hands on Deck and she loves it. Shared screen co-op puzzle platformer. Wholesome family fun!

If you like chill but makes you think try Strange Horticulture and if you like that one do Strange Antiques after it.

I HIGHLY suggest not using a guide for a first play through.
