Reddit Starts Blocking Mobile Website, Pushing Users to App Instead

Social network Reddit recently began blocking mobile visitors to its website while pushing them to download the official Reddit app, and it's fair to say that the move is not going down well with users. If you visit reddit.com on your iPhone today, you may see a new popup that can't be dismissed, asking you to "get the app to keep using Reddit".

Maybe its too on the nose to say so on Lemmy, but fuck Reddit right in the earhole. Their pearl-clutching, risk-averse, pro-corporate moderation-bot and tattle-tale system was the last straw.

You forgot to mention their being the cuckold of Israel, or perhaps the Gimp. Fuck Reddit better dead than Reddit is a username says on here.

There are still Lemmy users who go to reddit and reddit users who are exploring alternatives.

Onboarding onto Lemmy isn’t the best experience and a lot of existing redditors are already afraid of change and don’t want to learn a new thing.

I don’t know if there is a website dedicated to making it easier for folks to jump ship but I can say that the amount of content on Lemmy now is much higher than it was when I joined.

i think alot of them go back because of the lack of content, and the federation, plus when an instance vanishes they likely go back in the end.

I just want 2009 - 2015 Reddit back, or a place that resembles it. It was just a pleasant time.

Ah yes, right around when Gislane Maxwell was a power user and mod on Reddit.

I guess that would line up with her getting transferred to minimum security.
