Even if this is/was true… Which group/faction pushed either for this laws to be passed, or for people to believe these exist ?
The big court case (in the US) that set the precedent of shareholder primacy was Dodge v Ford Motor company back in 1919. The Wikipedia article on it is a pretty good overview.
