We have thematic forums and news aggregators. Everything else can die without any significant decrease of the quality of life. Photos of cats and celebrity bickering just consume resources.
To be honest, sometimes photos of cats are a pleasant addition to quality of life.
I agree about the celebrity bickering, though.
