Hey at least it doesn’t appear to be written by AI

The sentence works here, “at the cost of” can refer to the consequences of doing something. So in this case neglecting documentation and testing comes with the cost of communication, inefficiency, etc.

Incidentally as you allude to with their workforce aging out, Proton is prioritizing making money at the cost of their sanity

There is no long-term strategy though. Line’s gotta go up in time for the fourth quarter, if it tanks next year that’s next year’s problem

The sentence may work but it isn’t grammatically correct; you’d need either all negatives or all positives.

      It should be either:

… neglected at the cost of poor communication, inefficiencies and unreliability.

      Or:

… neglected at the cost of communication, efficiency and reliability.

Personally to me the latter sounds smooth and the former still feels clunky. If they wanted to highlight the negatives it would be much better to phrase it something like:

… neglected, leading to poor communication, inefficiencies and unreliability.

Though I’ve generally stopped using “leading to” because it sounds like AI.
