Normally I’m here on the side of the police but in this case there is just no way. You dont get to shoot a suspect just because they’re in their car about to drive away. You need other things at play like they’re armed and an immediate threat to people before it makes sense to try and shoot someone. I dont believe for a second they were in any danger of being run over.

This country is so culturally cooked, populism has rotted the american mind beyond repair.

The usa government determined that the murdered 1 year old was hitler reborn. His death was justified apparently to the judge.

How many diapers did that baby steal? Insurance companies say each year of human life is worth about 50,000 USD, so, cynically channeling Jonathan Swift, shooting this baby that could have lived to 60 would only be “justified” if the little one were hauling away 3,000,000 USD worth of diapers. That’s about 500 metric tons of diapers.

This was in response to shoplifting!? SHOPLIFTING!?

I guess that was on me for assuming the context would make this better and not 100 times worse.

But, didn’t you read? The officers said that the car may have went in their general direction.

Stolen diapers for the one year old that the police slaughtered is justified to kill a black person.

God I fucking hate this world.

FFVII Revelation is coming. I’m stealing the black fucking materia and calling meteor myself

Why do they even send cops to a shoplifting scene? Let the store deal with it. They have cameras, security guards, insurance.

That’s what I don’t get. Everything in the fucking store is insured! A $20 pack of diapers is insured! The store will get that back, take it up as a loss.

Sure you don’t want to encourage theft, but shit happens. Oops someone accidentally walked out with one item. Sure send someone out to inform the customer, maybe they legit missed it. If you can’t locate the customer or they already started to drive away, welp put that under accidental loss. It’s not that different from someone accidentally dropping a jar of pickles off the shelf. The store isn’t going to call the cops because of an accidental jar drop.

But we all know it wasn’t the accidental shoplifting, it’s because she was black. That’s the ONLY reason why the cops were called. Because of the color of her skin. And then the trigger happy racist as fuck cop saw that and shot first and never asked questions. It’s past time there were serious fucking consequences for these fucking piece of shit pigs (cops).

I’d fucking boycott that fucking store and the owner. Force corporate to act over this shit.

America is crazy. A women does shoplifting and officers shoot at her? I don’t know if you guys know how insane your country is.

Dont you have some law that officers only can use deadly force when their life or someone else’s life is in danger?

Not just shoplifting but literally stole a pack of diapers. People don’t steal diapers for fun, that’s obviously someone who was out of options, and took the only option left to her

Edit to add: apparently she didn’t even steal the diapers! Some customer said they thought she did and she didn’t have the receipt (because who grabs the receipt when they go and buy a single consumable item?)

Shops are also insured so it doesn’t even affect the owner. Some super rich insurance company gets to pay for a new pack of diapers.

Compare this with what’s going on in France, where thousands of immigrants are rioting and burning down stores and cars. Millions of dollars in damage. The police there still just use tear gas and rubber bullets and haven’t killed anyone.

America is in its own league of police brutality.

I dont watch TV news at all, but ive watched YouTube videos from the riots filmed by ordinary people. That’s probably as close to the truth you can get without being there.

As some late night host said (Stewart?): do you think immigrants are the ones who are rioting IN FRANCE?

Let me give you a hint: one of the places they rioted was the Bastille square.

Nope. Most state laws shield cops from trouble as long as they were trying to be a cop and openly doing cop stuff. There would be a review, but the review is just to establish the cop was doing cop stuff. Even not following “procedure” isn’t enough to remove the veil of legitimacy.

      Qualified Immunity

Im sure a bootlicker like you will absolutely adore the concept.if only the police in France could just murder who they want… right? Then the cost of living crisis will be resolved and the schools will be fully funded.

        That’s no excuse.

Soldiers being sent into literal combat against enemy troops have rules of engagement that don’t allow them to fire unless fired upon. Why do police dealing with civilians have less-strict rules of engagement?

Not to mention other countries also having crime, and criminals with guns. They don’t use their weapons against people who are not a danger to anyone.

The mentality in America is difficult to understand from the outside. It’s very evil.

It’s difficult from the inside too.

The problem is people here are used to it being “the way things are” so they don’t go through the mental exercise of trying to understand it. It’s seen as perfectly normal, so it’s never questioned.

In the US the sky is blue, water is wet, and police are assumed to have been justified any time they kill someone.

The Buddhist perspective is that we live in Samsara, which is the cycles of suffering perpetuated by craving, aversion, and delusion. That’s the simplified version, but it really goes much deeper. But on the other side of the coin, they say that attainment involves the realization that samsara and nirvana are the same, and that the only thing that changes is your perspective. They’re not different realms.

There are also different realms in Buddhism, ranging from various levels of hell to the world we live in and on up to various levels of heaven. But those are separate from the distinction between samsara and nirvana, and secondary to them, because an enlightened being could live in a hell realm without losing nirvana, and a deluded being could live in heaven and still be caught up in samsara.

The Hindu perspective is that we all live in Maya (illusion), and that the ultimate attainment is moksha (liberation), meaning you no longer have to be reborn into the world of Maya.

There are other distinctions, such as how karma functions and how it affects rebirth; and what dharma means and how it relates to karma. There’s also of course the key distinction between essential selfhood or no essential selfhood (i.e. emptiness), but that part isn’t as relevant to the discussion of whether or not “we live in hell.”

I’d say the closest thing to what you’re thinking of is probably samsara, but it is different.

There’s also the Kali Yuga, which is a Hindu concept, and has more to do with the era rather than the realm. It’s basically the last octile of the cycle before it reaches the absolute lowest of the low, and represents about 12,000 years of accelerating degradation and depravity before the final destruction of the world as we know it. Only after the cycle reaches the nadir is when the world begins to recover and rebuild/improve.
