Right wing “solutions” to difficulties are always insincere, unreasonable nonsense like this.

Can’t pay your bills? Eat less! Can’t afford medical care? Shouldn’t have been unhealthy! Gas prices killing you? Drive less! Depressed and burned out? Just be happy and work harder! You think billionaires are greedy? Well what charities are you giving to!? Tired of capitalist exploitation? Stop buying stuff and go live in the woods! You love immigrants? Well then let them all live in your home!

Victim blaming dressed up as rugged individualism. Meanwhile those actually responsible for the hardships get off scot-free.

I assume he doesn’t think this should be paired with ramping up public transit options and bike and pedestrian friendly infrastructure

that won’t work. if everyone were to stop driving or relying on gas tomorrow. the oil companies would still raise the price because they are now “losing money” due to low demand and have to raise prices to make up for the make-believe money they are “losing”

No, with production then vastly too high they wound try to sell as much as possible to at least make some money before/during/after shutting down. But you are free point out where a product got obsolete/not bought and still more expensive despite high production in the past.

Yeah you stupid pay pigs, don’t you know economics!? Supply and demand! Just stop demanding the resource we spent decades making indispensable and kept artificially scarce!

I would drive less if there were any decent public options that ran frequently.

Ever try waiting for a bus in South Florida sun, 95 deg F anf 100% humidity for 45 min just to have the driver wave you off because the bus is already full.

Hope all the miserable assholes who voted for stopping electrification feel it in every part of them. I hope they have to give up on real, meaningful life dreams forever because they are now unaffordable. And I hope their houses specifically burn down in the wildfires the CO2 from their gasoline made so common.

I am beyond done with this gasoline bullshit.

There are a lot of things people can do on their own… in a world where the median US income isn’t $45,000 and responsible and capable products aren’t tariffed to hell.

Mass adoption comes with affordability which comes with support and clear, intentional direction. Consumers don’t shift paradigms when they think the new paradigm won’t go anywhere. We can’t even get people off of X - and that costs NOTHING.

Electrifying on your own is prohibitively expensive for most people, and the fact that those people have to be prepared to also pay an additional premium because they’re fighting their own government at the same time, in a period in time where people can barely afford FOOD, is not tenable.

Using energy costs more money than not using it. With the amount of people flying every day don’t tell me cost is the problem.
