On the other hand, “it’s not foo; it’s bar,” once a quirky rhetorical flourish, now scans lazy and sloppy as shit. Also, swearing like a motherfucking sailor helps establish one’s humanity. Emdash is useful punctuation — I use it all the fucking time.
