My early 50s had me in the best shape of my life, running 6 miles or biking 25-50 miles nearly every day and being ripped and weighing less than I had since I was a teenager. I’m nearing 60 now and arthritis is creeping into all my joints, though. The breakdown happens eventually no matter how successfully you stave it off.
25 fucked with me mentally, but late thirties is when you actually start breaking down.
I had some things start failing at 35, but recovered a bit and feel better now at 45.
But I quit my soul crushing desk job career and had a kid in those intervening years too.
So basically I traded financial security for healthy life and family time.

Thanks for the hope homie.
