I’m 90% sure it’s not to actually be used. It’s to make people post about it online and have their brand pop up. It’s a product that requires no R&D and they can create a nice story of their product connecting families. It’s good marketing honestly. It’s got people talking about it here at least without even realizing they’re sharing an ad.

A few years ago I purchased an NVMe SSD, and an adapter, without thinking much of it. I try to use it, only to find out it isn’t recognized. My motherboard didn’t support it. I had to manually download files for it and patch in support to the motherbord’s firmware. You haven’t lived until you do this.

That doesn’t make it a Linux issue. It’s an issue with some component that is in a Linux distribution, but it probably has nothing to do with the Linux operating system. It sounds like it’s specifically some component of the Deck at fault, not a part of Linux.
I’m confident you’re correct. Also, as always, the surveillance isn’t for the reason they state; it’s just an excuse. They want to monitor all the people. They’ll be able to track when and where everyone goes in rural areas. Urban areas are mostly covered by Flock.
